CelcomDigi urges Malaysians to stay prepared for flood season, strengthens support for affected communities

October 16, 2025

PETALING JAYA, 15 October 2025 – As Malaysians prepare for expected monsoon floods across several states, CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi) is stepping up efforts to ensure communities continue to remain safe, connected, and supported during this difficult time.

The company’s efforts so far comprise of providing essential personal and household supplies, connectivity at Pusat Pemindahan Sementara (temporary relief centres), and various other recovery assistance, to benefit close to 5,000 families. The household supplies like cooking items and food packs include contributions by CelcomDigi employees to extend their personal support to those affected.

CelcomDigi is working with the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA) and Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) to expedite the deployment of aid to those affected. The company has also enabled MRA with four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicles, rescue boats and volunteers, and essential equipment such as mobile charging stations, water and jet pumps, kitchen sets, and generators to support relief efforts. These are being deployed to severely affected areas to extend timely assistance to stranded or displaced families. These relief efforts are part of the RM2 million allocated to aid communities affected by the floods.

To further strengthen nationwide flood readiness, CelcomDigi has implemented several proactive measures to ensure uninterrupted connectivity and operational resilience. These include:

  • Deploying Fixed Wireless Access units to provide WiFi connectivity at up to 200 flood relief centres across the country.
  • Elevating network structures in flood-prone areas to safeguard critical radio and electronic equipment from water damage.
  • Mobilising 24/7 operations teams to swiftly deploy power generators to base stations in flood-hit areas, ensuring minimal disruption to network services.
  • Broadcasting Flash-SMS alerts in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), reaching over 4.4 million in flood-prone regions nationwide.

CelcomDigi is working the government and relevant agencies for more coordinated relief efforts. The company has also readied its resources and employees to support more Malaysians nationwide – whether customers, dealers, or partners – during this time of need.

In tandem with these efforts, CelcomDigi has refreshed its Flood Preparedness Kit, which now includes updated safety guidelines and practical checklist to raise awareness on recommended actions before, during, and after a flood. The kit is available in English and Bahasa Malaysia via CelcomDigi’s social media platforms, and on CelcomDigi, Celcom Life and MyDigi apps.
